In the Hindu tradition, seva is worship through action. Every meal served, every hand extended, every hour volunteered is an offering to the Divine in all beings.
A central future vision of the Taranaki Hindu Cultural Trust to serve free vegetarian meals to the community once we have secured our permanent home.
Once our cultural hub & temple premises are fully secured and renovated, our goal is to establish a kitchen facility. We plan to serve full vegetarian meals open to families, students, and anyone in the Taranaki community who could use a warm meal and welcoming company.
In Hindu philosophy, feeding others is the highest form of charity. "Atithi Devo Bhava" — the guest is God. Establishing a community kitchen is a primary goal in our Trust Deed, designed to break down barriers, create local connections, and bring comfort to those who need it most.
We are currently raising funds to purchase the building that will allow us to install and license these kitchen facilities. Your donation today brings this vision a step closer to reality.
Help Build the KitchenOur seva extends beyond the kitchen — we support newcomers, build bridges, and create belonging.
Arriving in a new country can be overwhelming. We provide practical and emotional support to migrants and refugees settling in Taranaki:
We know what it's like to be far from home — and we want every newcomer to feel that Taranaki is their home too.
Get SupportSeva is for everyone. You don't need to be Hindu, experienced, or even available every week. Every contribution matters:
Volunteering is a beautiful way to give back, meet new people, and be part of something meaningful.
